Dear Friends,

It is a heart full of gratitude and excitement that I write my very first message to you as the new pastor of St. Columba Church.  To follow in the footsteps of the priests who have served you so faithfully before me is a true honor, and I am deeply grateful to our Bishop for appointing me to this wonderful community.

A parish is much more than a collection of buildings; it is a living family of faith.  My primary mission as your Pastor is to ensure that St. Columba remains a sanctuary of hope, a place of deep prayer, and a beacon of Christ’s charity to the wider community.  Like our patron Saint Columba, who fearlessly shared the gospel and anchored his life in prayer, we are called to be modern day disciples supporting one another in our weakness and celebrating together in our joys.

In these weeks, my main priority is to listen and learn.  I want to discover the unique traditions, ministries, and strengths that make this parish thrive.  I look forward to working closely with our parish staff, councils, ministers, school principal, faculty and staff and volunteers to build upon the strong foundation already in place.

Please know that you and your families are already in my daily prayers and masses.  I humbly ask that you keep me in your prayers as well, that the holy spirit may grant me the wisdom, humility, and strength to serve you well.

May God bless you and your loved ones, and may Saint Columba intercede for our parish family.

In Jesus and Mary,

Fr. Roldan Nuñez

Pastor

Our Commitment to Protect

Sexual Abuse Compensation Program

The Independent Victim Compensation Program (ICP), a program sponsored by the Diocese of San Diego to assist victim-survivors who were abused as minors by priests of this diocese, is now accepting applications. The ICP is independent and not controlled by the Church. There is no time limit on when the abuse may have taken place. The program will consider all claims, regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred.  No attorney is necessary and there are no fees of any kind. U.S. Residency is also not required.
